Ireland qualify for Bridge World Cup

Our Irish Senior team of Nick FitzGibbon, Adam Mesbur, Micheal O’Briain, Padraig O’Briain, Ranald Milne and B.J. O’Brien (NPC Derek O’Gorman) have finished in fourth place in the European Championships in Ostend and in so doing have qualified for the D’Orsi Cup to be held  in China in 2019.  This is an outstanding achievement and we are all proud of their success.  Well done to all.  The top three places went to France, Sweden and Poland.

Carrie Moroney and Paddy Crowley RIP

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of one of the most endearing ladies of Bridge – Carrie Moroney – a great supporter of bridge all over the country.   She tried her best to keep Delia on the straight and narrow but….

Carrie will be missed by all of us who had the pleasure to meet her.

We are also sad to hear of the passing of our own Paddy Crowley – a gentleman who played the game as it was meant to be played – with the right mix of competitiveness, laughter and kindness.  We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife Mary and all his family and friends.  May he Rest in Peace.

Mary Crowley and her family are overwhelmed by the goodwill and kindness from Paddy’s Bridge family who came from all over to offer condolences and they would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Bridge Community for their support.
