Galway’s Dynamic Duo Hang Up their Pens
Those of us who have had the privilege of attending one of Ireland’s longest running and most successful congresses would like to say a big ‘Thank You’ to Marcella Mitchell and Bernie Finan who have just hosted their last Galway Congress. After 25 or more years at the helm as Secretary and Treasurer they have welcomed and served thousands of visitors to the congress. A top notch secretary and treasurer are the key ingredients for a successful congress and Marcella and Bernie were the perfect team and their job spec should be copied by other congresses as the model for good practice. For the last 25 years they have unselfishly given up their game each congress weekend to make sure that the visiting players were welcomed to Galway. We wish Galway well in finding another successful replacement duo and we look forward to seeing Marcella and Bernie sitting down to play a hand or two in the future.
